By Road
Needless to say, there a lots of ways to get to Courchevel or Nendaz by car, but we've prepared a couple of routes that we've used successfully for quite a few years (click the buttons on the right for directions).

Please be aware that your car should be made ready not just for the journey, but for potentially freezing and hazardous driving conditions whilst in the Alps. A 4x4 vehicle is advised, and snow chains should be carried, as certain chalets are up - or down - some fairly steep hills. The weather can change overnight in the mountains, and it is no fun being snowed in and unable to drive one's car when one wants or needs to.

Please also be aware that driving in Europe means that the laws that govern what you're doing are different. We recommend that you visit the Driving Abroad section of the RAC website to establish the legal requirements of each country you're driving in. As a rough idea, here are a few pointers to bear in mind:
o headlamp converters - needed in France
o warning triangle - needed in Switzerland
o children under 10 - cannot travel in front seats in France
o children under 7 - cannot travel in front seats in Switzerland without child restraints
o motorway tax - must be paid when entering Switzerland. It costs around 40CHF or 30Euro, and is valid for a year.
