Directions from Calais to Nendaz

Main route
1. Leave Calais on the A26/E17, heading South East towards Arras, St. Quentin and Reims.

2. Follow the A26/E17 as far as Reims, where you need to pick up the A4/E17, towards Chalons-en-Champagne and Troyes.

3. Follow the A4/E17 as far as Troyes, then pick up the A5/E17 towards Chaumont, and then South towards Dijon.

4. Follow the A5/E17 past Chaumont where it becomes the A31/E17, and continues South towards Dijon.

(See Route A and Route B
for optional routes between Dijon and Lausanne)

5. Follow the contour of Lake Geneva past Montreux, towards Monthey, Martigny and Sion. If in doubt, simply keep following the A9 signposts towards Simplon.

6. Two junctions past Martigny, exit the A9 towards Sion and Nendaz, then follow signposts towards Nendaz, which will take you round the outskirts of Sion, across the River Rhone and to the mountain road up to Nendaz.

7. Once you start to leave the valley floor, you have a further 16km to go to reach Nendaz. Continue past Basse-Nendaz until you reach the 'station' of Haute-Nendaz.

Options between Dijon and Lausanne
Route A - Scenic (and generally quicker)

A2. At Dole, leave the autoroute and pick up the N5/D472 towards Salins-les-Bains.

A3. Pass through Salins-les-Bains on the D472, then through Levier where it becomes the D72, heading for Pontarlier.

A4. At Pontarlier, head South on the N57/E23, past La Cluse-en-Mijoux and through the Swiss border crossing just North of Vallorbe (you might be stopped and asked to pay the Swiss motorway tax here, although the Customs are generally more relaxed here than on the main autoroutes).

A5. Continue on the N57/E23 Southwards towards Lausanne, joining the A1/E23 autoroute just North of the city.

A6. After a very short distance, pick up the A9 Eastbound, towards Montreux and Simplon.

Route B - Motorway (and sometimes more congested)
